Wanted: WOW volunteers

Nothing more fun than going on vacation or camp. Right? But that is not obvious for everyone. Many adults and children with disabilities cannot just get away for a week. And some children from vulnerable families have never been to camp. That's what Belgian Red Cross-Flanders wants to do something about. How?

With a series of WOW vacations & camps in 2024

  • For adults (18+) with physical and/or mental disabilities
  • for children with disabilities from socially vulnerable families
  • for children from socially vulnerable families

Will you join us?

We are looking for experienced nurses and caregivers, care volunteers, (lead) animators and handy harry's and henriettes who can spare 1 week. Experience is not required for every position, empathy is. Belgian Red Cross-Flanders provides your training and guidance.

What do we expect from you?

  • You will develop custom WOW program and animation offerings (animator / lead animator).
  • You enjoy caring for others and helping where and when needed (nurse / caregiver / care volunteer / handy harry & henriëtte).
  • You help our participants push their limits. Maybe they'll try things they wouldn't dare at home. (animator / caregiver / nurse / care volunteer).
  • You provide our participants with the necessary mental and physical support for a vacation or camp to remember. (animator / caregiver / nurse / care volunteer / handy harry & henriëtte).

The ideal WOW volunteer (m/f/x)

  • is at least 18 years old
  • Has good physical and mental health
  • Is available for 1 week (or longer)
  • enjoys working together
  • is discreet
  • feels the target audience well
