Nurse for WOW vacations & camps
Everyone has the right to relax. Even those for whom it is less obvious. That's why Belgian Red Cross-Flanders organizes vacations and camps for:
- adults (18+) with physical and/or mental disabilities
- children with disabilities from socially vulnerable families
Among other things, we are looking for nurses to join us as volunteers. Something for you?
Do you recognize yourself in this?
- registered nurse
- 1 week (or longer) you can set yourself free
- work experience in healthcare
- desire to apply your nursing expertise without pressure or haste in relaxed vacation or camp settings
What does it entail?
You organize care tasks
Based on the medical needs of the participants in our WOW vacations & camps, you and a fellow nurse distribute all care tasks to the care team. You are the medical point of contact for the care volunteers and the care experts. Our care volunteers support the care tasks: they (mostly) have no prior medical knowledge. They did follow the preparatory Care Initiation at Belgian Red Cross-Flanders.
You nurse
You take care of specific medical actions: giving an injection, applying a bandage, taking the temperature...
You manage the medication
Some participants have to receive medication every day. You, with the help of experienced caregivers, see to it that everyone takes the right medication on time.
You actively participate in the vacation or camp +
You get to know the participants personally. You enjoy creating bonds with people and always have time for a chat, a game or other forms of quality time. Satisfaction and recognition guaranteed.
Belgian Red Cross-Flanders Provides necessary guidance and training
- You are welcome to come to our information moment and we will invite you for a personal interview.
- You can contact Belgian Red Cross-Flanders before, during and after the vacation or camp with your questions.
- You get to work with a clear script and proven procedures.
- You will consult with our vacation or camp manager who is responsible for overall coordination.
- You are welcome to attend the free training sessions we organize in preparation for volunteers without prior medical training.
