Your will and the new inheritance law 2018
Times are changing and society is changing with them. In addition to traditional families, we also see more and more newly composed families, single-parent families, conscious singles and foster families in our society. Therefore, since September 1, 2018, the new legislation surrounding inheritance law and inheritance tax (formerly inheritance tax) has been in effect. The result of the reform of inheritance law is more freedom to whom you leave what (for example, a portion to charity), more clarity as well as more certainty.
Drawing up a will
Drafting a will is not an everyday activity. Still, it's a good idea to arrange your estate the way you want. Take some time to think about it. With the right help, it's easier than you think. Do you ever change your mind? That's no problem, you can always amend your will.
You can write a will yourself or have a notary draw it up. A self-written will must include a signature and a date. Do you like to appeal to a notary? The advantage is that the notary can advise you and review all the options with you.
Including a charity in your will
Thanks to inheritance law reform, you have more freedom in what you leave to whom. By making a will, you can help determine who gets what. Thinking about including a charity in your will? There are different bequests and their possibilities: general bequest, special bequest, bequest under general title.
