I always visit the same location, how can I quickly book an appointment?

Don't have a preferred location yet? Proceed as follows:

Click on 'Set your preference' at the desired donation type.

Choose your preferred location:

  • Optionally, your recent donation location will appear and you can choose it.
  • Otherwise, search municipality or zip code for a desired location.

Every time I try to log on, I get stuck with an error message. What can I do?

If you receive an error message during or after your registration, please contact us at bloed@rodekruis.be. Please provide as much information as possible: send a picture of the error message displayed and specify the e-mail address you wish to use to register. Always include your name, first name and date of birth. Do you already have a donor number? It is best to give this as well.

Do I need to enter my donor number when I create my profile on the donor portal?

This is only necessary if you have already donated in the past and we cannot find your email address in our system. In this situation, we recommend linking your donor number. Only then can we link your new account with your donor record and your donation history. As long as your new account is not linked to your donor record, you will not be able to see your donation history.

You can find your donor number at the bottom of each digital newsletter, or on the post donation card you receive with each donation.

Did you indicate during registration that you do not know your donor number? Or have you indicated that you have never donated? Then as soon as you have your donor number, you can link it in your portal profile to track your donation history, among other things.

Proceed as follows to link your donor number to your donor record after creating your account:

Go to the donor portal and sign in. Enter your email address and password and click on 'Sign up'. Then click on 'Menu' and then on your own name.

Choose the option 'Link my donor number'.

Enter your donor number and click on 'Register'.

Find here more info on where to find your donor number.

Tip:

Unable to link your donor number? Contact us through the donor portal. We will be happy to help you.

Where can I find my donor number?

You will find your donor number at the bottom of every digital newsletter, invitation to your blood collection by email and on the post donation donor card. You can also request the donor number at bloed@rodekruis.be.

My information in the donor portal

What info can I find in the donor portal?

Once you are logged in, the menu is a lot more extensive. When you click on it, the options below appear:

  • My appointments: This is where you will find your scheduled appointments
  • Make an appointment: Use your preferred locations to book an appointment quickly and efficiently.
  • Frequently Asked Questions: This page takes you to the overview of frequently asked questions surrounding the donor portal. You are now on this page.
  • Get in touch: This is the place to ask an administrative question as well as to make a complaint. However, if you have something to report around your medical records Or do you have a medical question? Then contact the doctor of the medical secretariat of your province.

You can reach the doctor in the medical secretariat every weekday during office hours at:
  • Language: Change the language of the donor portal.
  • Unsubscribe: This logs you out of the donor portal.

There is one more option in the menu that we didn't touch on; your own name. By clicking on your own name Clicking next options appear:

  • My profile: here you can find your blood group, donation history, on-call status, preferred location and contact information, among other things. You can change your contact information here, as well as your preferred location (for blood, plasma and platelets).
  • Change data: change your e-mail address, phone number and/or correspondence language. You can also access your contact preferences from here and change them if you wish.
    • You cannot change your address in the donor portal. If you are going to donate, your electronic identity card when you register, that way we will always have your most recent official address.
    • Wish to have your correspondence address changed already for your next donation? Then send an e-mail to bloed@rodekruis.be.
  • Change password: would you like to set a new password? Then you can use this option.

Attention!

From the page to change your password, you cannot return to the donor portal except by returning to the previous page(s) in your browser itself. Or return to the donor portal yourself.

  • Preferred locations: set your favorite mobile collection or donor center for each type of donation you can donate. Setting these makes it easier and more efficient to make an appointment.
  • Donation overview: shows a summary of your donations.
  • Link my donor number: are you a donor and have already donated but can't find your details under 'Donation Overview'? Then enter your donor number and get more out of your portal account. That way, the donor portal also takes into account your donation interval when making your next appointment.

Under my donations, I find an overview with my receipts. The total number of donations for which I was honored does not match this.

Only effective donations are eligible for honors. Did you show up for donation once but were not allowed to donate at that time? Then this attendance does not count in your honors number of effective donations but does count in the number you showed up for a donation. The number of times you showed up is displayed on the donor portal.

How come I don't see all my donations listed in my donation history?

We only show donations you made at Belgian Red Cross-Flanders . If you donated elsewhere in the past (for example at Croix-Rouge de Belgique - Communauté francophone), this will not be counted in the overview.

In addition, your already existing profile may not (yet) be linked to your new account. You can do this by clicking on your own name in the menu and then clicking on 'Link my donor number'. Enter your donor number here.

For more info, please see the question above.

Creating and managing appointments

Can I make an appointment to donate blood or plasma?

Yes, both our donor centers and mobile blood collections actually require an appointment to donate blood or plasma.

Can I make an appointment through the donor portal to give platelets?

For platelets, we ask that you make an appointment through your donor center. This can be done on site or by phone. You can find your donor center's contact information here.

The reason why this can only be done through your donor center is because not everyone is eligible to donate platelets. The need for these donations is also greatly determined by the supply at the time. So keep in mind that a booked appointment can always be canceled or rescheduled.

Can I check, reschedule or cancel my appointment?

As a donor, you can view, reschedule or cancel your made appointments in the donor portal at 'My appointments'.

You can easily change the appointment here per appointment by clicking on 'Change Appointment'. You cannot reschedule or cancel a platelet appointment yourself. This can be done at the donor center or by phone. You can find your donor center's contact information here.

Wanneer mag ik opnieuw doneren?

Go to the donor portal, Open the menu, click on your own name and click on 'My Profile'.
There you will see as the second item 'From when can I donate again' are listed with the correct dates.

These dates may be different for blood, plasma and platelets as these have different waiting times.

In addition, to be on the safe side, complete the donor self-test before you make an appointment and before you visit. That way you will know if you are eligible to donate blood or plasma.

Change data

Can I decide where to donate?

Where you donate is entirely up to you. In the donor portal, you can find the nearest collection site based on your location.

You can also edit your preferred locations yourself. You do this by clicking on your own name in the menu and then clicking on 'Preferred Locations'. Enter the preferred locations for your blood, plasma or platelet donation here.

Why can I edit only my contact information and not my address information?

Click on the menu and then on your own name. Choose'Change data'. Here you can change your phone number, e-mail address and language preference.

Your address information is entered automatically by reading your eID. Therefore, you cannot change them yourself through your account.

If you have recently moved and wish to pass on this change of address, please come by for a donation. Your eID will be re-read and your data updated. If it takes too long until your next donation, please send a message to bloed@rodekruis.be.

Can I change my preferred collection location?

You can manage your sampling locations yourself. Changes can be made via'Preferred locations' in the menu under your own name.

Can I change my password?

You can change your password in two ways.

Want to log in and don't remember the password for your portal account? Then click on"Forgot your password.

Already logged into your portal account and wish to set a different password? Click on the menu and then on your own name. Click on 'Change password'.

Attention!
From this page you cannot return to the donor portal except by returning to the previous page(s) in your browser itself. Or return to the donor portal yourself.

On the next page (top left), click on your email address and choose 'Manage email address'.
