Sign up as an intern for the WOW camps
An internship where you help socially vulnerable children and young people experience the vacation of a lifetime in a playful and challenging way? That is possible during the WOW camps of Red Cross Flanders, because say it yourself, what is more fun than going on camp together? Belgian Red Cross-Flanders organizes during the Easter and summer vacations 5 WOW camps, good for 160 children from 7 to 14 years old (born between 2011 and 2018). Students, in the framework of an internship within their training (social work, teacher training, ...) can also participate in the WOW camps.
Cooperation with educational institutions
To make proper arrangements, Belgian Red Cross-Flanders has a cooperation agreement with several educational institutions as part of these WOW camps.

Welcome as an intern at WOW camps
What do we offer you?
Before the camp begins, we will invite you to the training and preparation days.
A camp for socially vulnerable children is like a camp for all children. With a few nuances. Who is our target group? What keeps them busy? How do you respond appropriately to difficult home situations? Belgian Red Cross-Flanders offers an education with lots of wows and aha's. Insights in other words. You get to know the other volunteers and work in groups. In short, we lay the foundation for a strong team spirit.
Before the start of the WOW camp, the lead animators organize preparation days. Ideal to get acquainted with your fellow animators and the camp theme. The animators are divided into groups: you prepare the games and activities.
What do we expect from you?
- You have a positive attitude and you convey that to others.
- You enjoy working together.
- You are at least 18 years old and up to 35 years old.
- Your physical and mental health are fine.
- You are discreet and patient.
Where do we go from here?
The WOW camp during the Easter vacations will take place in Maasmechelen. Vacation home Fabiola is a beautiful location in the middle of Limburg nature. The WOW camps during the summer holidays are held in Blankenberge. The premises of Chiro Bloemkine are close to the beach, the sea and the dunes.
