Volunteering at a donor center
This is how we help
Our donor centers, you'll find them all over Flanders. This is where countless friendly faces pop in every day to donate blood, plasma or platelets. So the centers are indispensable when it comes to saving lives!
This is how you contribute to this
Your goal as a volunteer at one of our centers? Rested and happy donors! Of course, you don't have to do this alone. The medical team takes care of the correct collection of blood, plasma and platelets. Together with them you provide people with sufficient information. And with a smooth talk, you put even the most nervous donor at ease.
Something for you?
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You speak Dutch fluently.
- You can take time off on average once a week (fixed time).
- You easily get into one of our donor centers.
When you apply, please tell us well in which donor center you would like to help.
"I saw the wanted ad and I actually felt immediately that that's what I wanted to do: guide people after their donation and make them feel comfortable. And from my own experiences as a plasma donor, I also try to convince them to donate plasma, because the demand for plasma is getting bigger and bigger."
Dora, donor and volunteer
Specifically, how do you do this?
- As a volunteer at a donor center:
- You make sure that every donor feels in his/her good graces.
- Guide you (new) donors through the entire process, from registration to donation.
- Donors can always come to you with all their non-medical questions.
- Are you the reason donors enjoy scheduling their next appointment.
What do you get in return as a volunteer?
- A pastime that brings a lot of satisfaction. A good feeling, an extensive circle of acquaintances and good karma!
- Insurance during all activities you perform for Belgian Red Cross-Flanders.
- A quality framework within a professional organization.
- Necessary training within Belgian Red Cross-Flanders.
Please let us know which donor center you would like to help in. You can find all of our donor centers here.
