First aid at the driving license (Brussels region)
What do you learn?
In Brussels, first aid training is a mandatory requirement for obtaining a B driver's license. the Belgian Red Cross offers these first aid courses at the request of Brussels Mobility.
First aid training consists of an e-learning part (one and a half hours) and a practical part (three hours). You must have completed this training prior to your practical driving test. This course focuses on administering first aid in traffic, both in life-threatening and non-life-threatening situations.
You start with the e-learning module and at the end you choose a Dutch or French speaking practical training from the training calendar. The practical first aid courses take place at the First Aid Training Center (Munthofstraat 40, 1060 Sint Gillis).
For whom.
You can only register on the Belgian Red Cross 's online e-learning platform once you have passed the theoretical exam of the driving course at a Brussels exam center.

First aid training is free for anyone who wants to take the driving test in the Brussels Capital Region.
Good to know
Healthcare professionals, (company) first aiders (upon presentation of the certification of Company First Aid Provider) and ambulance providers (upon presentation of the certification of Emergency Provider-Ambulance Provider) can apply for an exemption for this mandatory first aid training. This also applies to those who obtained a certificate after completing at least 12 hours of first aid training (for example, the certificate 'First aid (basic course) from Belgian Red Cross-Flanders). In any case, the license or certificate must not be more than two years old. Applications for exemption are processed by Brussels Mobility.
