Belgian Red Cross-Flanders Allocates 150,000 euros from emergency relief fund to Sudan

In Sudan, nearly two million people have fled violence that has resumed since early April.

The ongoing fighting has destroyed hospitals, residential buildings and water and energy supplies. As a result, there is a shortage of medicine, food, water and fuel. In addition, the banking system has collapsed, locals are trapped in war zones and lack access to the most essential basic supplies and services.

Humanitarian needs are increasing by the day and decisive international aid is needed to prevent extreme suffering.

Belgian Red Cross-Flanders released 150,000 euros from its emergency relief fund to provide life-saving assistance and enable Sudan Red Crescent volunteers to help the civilian population. Their priorities are immediate life-saving actions, such as supporting and supplying health centers and begging essential goods to people on the run.
