Belgian Red Cross-Flanders reacts with shock at death of 8 Palestinian Red Cross colleagues

The Palestinian Red Crescent has recovered the bodies of 14 aid workers, including eight from the Palestinian Red Crescent, in a mass grave in the southern Gaza Strip. The aid workers were working in the Rafah area last week when their ambulances were attacked by the Israeli army. There is no news yet of 1 aid worker.

"Attacks on humanitarian workers, are a gross violation of international humanitarian law. [...] People providing humanitarian aid are protected," said Marijke Peys, Head of International Humanitarian Law in The Morning. In total, since the Oct. 7, 2023 escalation, 30 aid workers from the Palestinian Red Cross, 6 from Magen David Adom and 1 from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have been killed.
