Bloody serious: how students can make a difference 6,000 times this fall

Belgian Red Cross-Flanders wants to collect 6,000 blood donations from students this fall during the annual "Blood Serious" campaign. The fall campaign runs in several cities in Flanders and in Brussels, it starts today, Oct. 15, in Kortrijk and runs through Dec. 9.

In cooperation with local student organizations, Belgian Red Cross-Flanders aims to motivate as many students as possible to donate blood, with the ultimate goal of collecting no fewer than 6,000 blood donations. In addition to blood donations, the importance of plasma donations is also emphasized. Plasma is as essential as blood, and students can do their part by donating plasma at one of Belgian Red Cross-Flanders's 14 donor centers, often also in their college town. 

So "Blood Serious" focuses on creating a familiar environment for first-time donations, hoping to get students to find their way to these donor centers for both blood and plasma donations. The fall campaign offers numerous donation opportunities at various campuses and locations because students really can make a difference.
