Our first responders are trained according to scientifically based guidelines and have the necessary resources to act quickly and efficiently when needed—from minor injuries to major emergencies.

By Belgian Red Cross-Flanders a Belgian Red Cross-Flanders aid station, you Belgian Red Cross-Flanders for:

  • expert and well-trained care providers
  • clear agreements and professional follow-up
  • a partner with years of experience in the events industry

How does a medical aid station work?

No two events are alike. That’s why we always base our work on a risk assessment of your event. We take into account factors such as the weather, potential risks, the number of attendees, and the size of the venue.

Based on that, we draw up a proposal that includes the right people and resources. We coordinate with the other emergency services involved.

The Red Cross is also your partner for psychosocial support

Some situations at events can be emotionally overwhelming. For example, a visitor who panics because of the crowds, or someone who is emotionally distressed after a medical procedure.

Our specialized volunteers are on hand to provide initial psychosocial support.

Do you regularly organize activities? Or do you organize them across provincial borders?

International and national organizers, top-tier soccer clubs, and partners with a framework agreement are assigned a dedicated account manager. This means a single point of contact for all your requests, prompt assistance in the event of incidents, and regular consultations to ensure smooth collaboration.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the deadline for submitting my application?

Preferably at least eight weeks before the event. This gives us enough time to assess the risks and plan for the necessary emergency personnel and resources.

You will receive confirmation within two weeks at the latest as to whether we can provide you with assistance.

Why do I need to register through the digital portal?

This way, you can view all information and communications related to your request in one convenient overview. You can track the status of your requests, update contact and billing information, and share requests with colleagues.

What if I already have a Red Cross account?

If you already have a Red Cross account—for example, as a donor or crisis volunteer—you can log in to the digital portal using the same credentials.

What is the application process, and what do the different statuses in my overview mean?

  • Submit your application

Have you logged in and filled out all the necessary information? If so, you can submit your application.

Is your application incomplete? If so, it will remain at the top of your list so you can easily complete it later.

  • Application submitted

Once you have submitted your application, we will review it and assign it to the most appropriate entity, based on factors such as the location and size of the event.

Usually, the local branch takes charge of the organization. In some cases, multiple branches work together, or coordination takes place at the provincial level.

  • Request being processed

Once your application has been approved, the entity will verify that all information is complete, conduct a risk analysis, and assess the feasibility.

Once accepted, the status will change to “Request pending.” You will then see the entity’s email address and reference number, so you can easily contact them or provide additional information.

  • What if my request cannot be processed?

Sometimes a request cannot be fulfilled. For example, if the risk assessment shows that a first-aid station is not necessary and a first-aid kit is sufficient, or if there is not enough time to prepare.

In that case, the status of your request will change to “Request cannot be processed” or “Alternative proposed.”

You will be notified immediately by email of any status updates. We will process your request as quickly as possible. You will receive a response within two weeks at the latest.

  • Sign the agreement

You will receive a proposal outlining the scope of work, the price, and the terms and conditions. You can review and digitally sign this via the digital portal. Requests that require action on your part will appear at the top of your overview.

  • Aid station in preparation

Once you have agreed to the proposal and signed the partnership agreement, the Red Cross team will take it from there. They will coordinate the deployment of volunteers and provide the necessary supplies.

  • Aid station confirmed

Your volunteer shift has now been officially scheduled. You can expect our volunteers to arrive at the agreed-upon location and time. You can find the signed agreement in your overview.

  • Please provide your feedback

After the event, we ask that you fill out a short evaluation. This will help us continue to provide high-quality support.

  • Request completed

Once you have provided your feedback, your request will be closed. The invoice will be generated and sent to the contact person listed in the request.

After my first death march, I received the necessary care and a relaxing leg massage at the Red Cross Post. My blisters were taken care of and covered with a bandage. I did not feel any stress with them, even though there were many of us who needed care.
