No return of expired blood products from the hospital to RKV is necessary or desirable unless the expired product qualifies for crediting. In order to be credited, the product must be returned to RKV in accordance with the return procedures described under "Organization of return transport of blood products."
Crediting, and consequently returning the expired product, is only possible when the following conditions are met:
The table shows, among other things, that the cost arrangement differs depending on the type of order, the minimum shelf life of the delivered platelets, and the agreement between CRD and the hospital regarding an "agreed upon" platelet stock in the hospital (established in ROOS).

To the extent returned within no later than 7 days of their expiration date, these expired blood products will not be charged to the hospital unless damage is found upon return.
