Red Cross Youth
Red Cross Youth aims to spread the Rodekruis idea to children and young people. This is done mainly by the local chapters with support from the province.
The youth core is formed by a Youth Department Officer and, if necessary, a maximum of 2 Deputy Youth Department Officers and youth leaders. A department may also have a number of casual staff members.
Of course, Red Cross Youth has many other things to offer. Useful information such as training courses, lesson plans, activities,... can be found at www.jeugdrodekruis.be.
Within a department, a local youth core can be established under 3 different forms.
JRK Light: the youth service
Youth centers organize first aid initiations and courses or (temporary) projects. The offer of activities varies according to the local needs and possibilities of the core. Youth centers organize activities for schools and youth associations at their request (closed offer) or organize them through an open offer on their own initiative. There are usually no fixed participants. Everyone is welcome within the age limits determined by the local operation (min. 6 years, max. 18 years; the age limit can be determined locally and possibly per activity).
JRK Plus: the open youth movement
Youth centers organize activities on a regular basis. Open operation emphasizes that everyone is unconditionally welcome within the age limits determined by the local operation (min. 6 years, max. 18 years). They usually work with regular participants, although everyone is welcome at every activity. The Youth Centers make an effort to involve socially vulnerable children and youth in the operation.
JRK Full Option: the combination of open youth movement and youth service
Youth centers organize activities on a regular basis. In addition, they organize first aid initiations and courses, or (temporary) projects. The conditions are identical to those of JRK Plus.
Of course, JRK offers many other things that can be found on their website www.jeugdrodekruis.be
