Social Intervention Service

The volunteers of SIS (= Social Intervention Service) are used in four types of assistance:

  • urgent psychosocial assistance in disasters or serious cases;
  • specialized assistance based on an agreement or urgent request;
  • debriefing and/or individual supervision of in-house Red Cross volunteers;
  • psychosocial support in large-scale preventive relief operations.

In a preventive aid action, SIS is not routinely deployed. Especially at large-scale events, SIS will vouch for subsequent assignments:

  • psychosocial counseling of the victim;
  • reception of friends and family of a victim being cared for and/or removed;
  • reception and support of bystanders, emergency responders and organization during a critical incident;
  • registration of those involved to strengthen the Auxiliary Service Volunteers.

At the request of the organization, SIS can also be actively deployed following a critical incident.
