Continue to support Sudan
Following the outbreak of armed conflict in Sudan in April, we supported the Sudan Red Crescent response. We used 150,000 euros from our emergency relief fund for this purpose, and launched a fundraising drive.
Meanwhile, our funds have been spent. Among other things, the following items were paid for:
- Purchase of emergency relief items to provide shelter to affected population
- Purchase of clothing and textiles
- Purchase of work tools
- Logistical support for Sudan Red Crescent relief operations
Some telling figures on what the Sudan Red Crescent has accomplished so far:
- Mobilization of 4,000 volunteers
- More than 27,000 emergency relief items such as blankets, mattresses, tent equipment and kitchen sets endowed
- More than 118,000 people provided with hot meals
- Emergency care administered to more than 142,000 people
- More than 47,000 people concerned about access to drinking water
- More than half a million IDPs supported through humanitarian service points
Nevertheless, the situation on the ground remains dramatic. Humanitarian access for aid workers is under pressure, and the population is exposed to extreme forms of violence. We therefore call for continued support via BE53 0000 0000 5353 so that our Sudanese colleagues can continue to provide their much-needed assistance.
