What will you do
As a county manager, you are the connecting link between departments, county and headquarters. At every level you show a sense of initiative and encourage the execution of the core task of Communication & Recruitment. What does that mean concretely?
A county manager must meet the following profile:
- come of age
- communicative competence

- Possess leadership skills
- Have an interest in the Red Cross
- be willing to act according to the fundamental principles
- Be willing to take required training courses
- Be willing to work in groups
- Be willing to cooperate with all stakeholders in a loyal manner
- Be willing to do limited travel
- Be willing to attend evening meetings
- Have sufficient free time
- be accessible in case of problems arising in the province.
Education and experience:
- Experience within a lending point is necessary
- Know the structure of Belgian Red Cross-Flanders
- Have completed the required training courses
- Understanding policy issues
- Experience within a department is highly recommended.
The provincial manager is responsible for supporting the departmental managers in the province, coordinating the operation of library service for hospitals and care institutions at the provincial level and providing operational leadership when the operation exceeds the local level. He/she promotes the operation of library service for hospitals and care institutions in accordance with the guidelines and regulations of the Red Cross bodies. He/she is under the supervision of the provincial president and operationally under the authority of the head of the appeal team.
The operational leadership does not relieve the provincial head of his/her duty of information to and adequate consultation with the chairs of the echelons whose volunteers are deployed (for volunteers => see the charter, externals can request the info via the provincial headquarters). The provincial leader may be assisted by one or more provincial team members, with a maximum of ten, with whom he/she then forms a provincial team (for volunteers => see the charter, externals can request the info via the provincial headquarters).
Duties:
- To be the contact person for all department heads in his/her province;
- In consultation with the department manager, maintain regular contact with the lending points. This means that he/she visits at least five lending points per year;
- Ensure the proper functioning of library service for hospitals and care institutions within the province;
- Support and guide the departmental managers;
- Ensure proper information flow to other Red Cross bodies at the provincial level;
- Working with the relevant departmental manager to prospect potential new lending locations;
- Follow up new lending points in consultation with the departmental manager and the head office manager library service for hospitals and care institutions ;
- Ensure adequate training in the province;
- Willing to attend meetings of the Provincial Committee, the Advisory Committee library service for hospitals and care institutions and the Interprovincial Working Consultation library service for hospitals and care institutions.
