Province Social Assistance Manager
What is Social Assistance?
The Social Assistance discipline combines various activities aimed at vulnerable target groups:
Does someone need a temporary aid due to illness or old age? Then that person can go to the lending services of Red Cross branches for it.
Belgian Red Cross-Flanders Has been organizing for more than 25 years Vacation Camps for socially vulnerable children and young people (due to financial problems) who are partially or fully living at home. In addition, Belgian Red Cross-Flanders has been organizing for more than 10 years Adapted Holidays for adults with disabilities, chronic illnesses and the elderly. Out of the demand for vacations for children with disabilities, the project Adapted Holiday Camps was born.
The bridging the gap project of Belgian Red Cross-Flanders targets socially vulnerable preschool or elementary school children. For one hour a week or more, a volunteer comes to offer support to one or more children. This support can be done either at school or at the family's home.
- For people with limited mobility, several departments in wheelchair transportation provided.
