Imagine for a moment that you are staying in a care facility for a short or long time. How nice would it be then to read a good book, have a pleasant visit, have a nice conversation, or play a board game?
That's why library service for hospitals and care institutions. Our volunteers regularly pop into the homes of patients and residents. For a book or just a visit.
This is how you contribute to this
As a volunteer in a care facility, you will regularly visit patients and residents. For a book or a customized chat.
Because to (read aloud) is to go on a journey for a moment and get lost in another world.
Something for you?
- You are at least 16 years old.
- You enjoy social contact.
- You have a few hours free and then would like to commit to library service for hospitals and care institutions .
Specifically, how do you do this?
As a volunteer in a care facility:
- Draw you regularly to a care facility in your neighborhood.
- Work with staff and residents to select appropriate materials for the local Care Bib Collection.
- Visit residents to hand out books, comics, DVDs and the like, and to collect stories and smiles.
- Make real time for residents and patients. This can range from reading to them, to playing board games, to reminiscing or helping them choose a fun book.
