Volunteer caseworker Restoring Familiy Links

This is how we help

After a severe natural disaster, in armed conflict or migration, people often lose sight of each other. Family members flee in different directions and lose track of their loved ones.

Through the global Red Cross network, the Restoring Family Links (RFL) service seeks to locate missing persons and restore contact with their family members.

In addition, the RFL informs about the family reunification procedure to persons enjoying international protection in Belgium.

This is how you contribute to this

As a Restoring Family Links volunteer caseworker, you will help and support the Restoring Family Links service in Belgium.

Your practical help, administrative support and language skills will help families reconnect with each other!

Specifically, how do you do this?

  • You will conduct sensitive interviews with clients who have lost contact with loved ones and gather relevant information about those sought.
  • You inform clients about the investigation procedure.
  • You will follow up on clients' files to see if they have any new information that can help set up new investigative methods.
  • You inform clients when investigation results come in on their files.

What do we offer you?

  • The opportunity to embark on this adventure with a group of about 6 motivated volunteers and this at our headquarters at Motstraat 40, 2800 Mechelen.
