Psychosocial disaster relief worker
This is how we help
Sometimes disaster strikes. That's when Red Cross volunteers are ready. Providing disaster relief is one of our basic missions. We offer psychosocial support to those affected by disasters or shocking events. Our help consists of initial reception in reception centers for the uninjured, providing information by telephone to relatives and supporting the injured and their families in hospitals.
This is how you contribute to this
You support our mission of welcome, information and guidance by providing psychosocial support to people involved in disasters or major accidents. You offer those affected and related people a sense of security and calm and identify their needs and problems.
Specifically, how do you do this?
- You provide a sense of security and calm to those affected.
- You help ensure the self-reliance of affected people, relatives and emergency responders.
- You identify with vulnerable people and their needs.
Something for you?
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You can free yourself up for disaster interventions.
- You can create safety and peace with people with mental distress, regardless of social background or culture.
- You can quickly and correctly identify and relay the needs of those affected, even in difficult circumstances.
- You have experience in conducting helping conversations.
- You can participate monthly in the volunteer meeting in your county (2-hour session).
- You are stress-resistant and results-oriented.
