Accident simulator
This is how we help
Belgian Red Cross-Flanders finds it important that people can help (each other). Being able to offer help immediately often prevents worse. That is why we want to increase self-reliance in Flanders. Every year we offer our first aid courses free of charge to thousands of interested people. To make these as realistic as possible, we appeal to accident simulants.
Something for you?
- You are at least 18 years old
- You are willing to undergo extensive training.
This is how you contribute to this
One day... you'll find the role of a lifetime! As an accident simulator, you stage an emergency situation during training. This makes the exercises true to life for the students. Your empathy makes the lesson even more fascinating!
"It's nice to get compliments after an exercise from the students who think you brought everything in a very believable way. Simulating is a passion, a virus. And once you are bitten by it, you don't lose it!"
Andy, accident simulator
Specifically, how do you do this?
As an accident simulator:
- Help keep first aid classes as engaging and realistic as possible with your empathy.
- Not only your empathy, but your grime knowledge helps to mimic injuries and situations.
- Be ready for disaster drills to properly simulate an accident or disease condition.
- You regularly educate yourself to become and remain a simulation expert.
What do you get in return?
- As an accident simulator, you will receive extensive training. We teach you acting, grimacing and staging. You will also learn to demonstrate in a medically sound manner the consequence of the action of a candidate emergency responder who is helping the accident simulator as a victim. Grimacing injuries is also covered.
- Insurance during all activities you perform for Belgian Red Cross-Flanders.
