Who we are
Red Cross Flanders Brussels-Capital
In the heart of Brussels is the headquarters of Brussels-Capital division of Red Cross Flanders. In addition to blood and plasma donations, this Dutch-speaking department organizes all community-related tasks such as first aid training, bridging the gap project, care bib project,... for the Brussels region.
We embrace a vision that revolves around connection and positive change. At Red Cross Brussels Capital, we believe in the power of diversity and strive to harness this power for tangible impact.
Our focus is on creating a network of passionate volunteers, each with a unique role in our community and/or department. In doing so, we are committed to bringing Dutch-speaking elders out of their cocoon and supporting children with learning challenges by pairing them with buddies who speak "their" language.
We recognize the need to strike a balance and strive to train more Dutch-speaking first responders from here so that help is accessible to everyone in our city.
Our journey is driven by science and research, ensuring that our efforts are not only meaningful, but also produce measurable and long-lasting results.

Other Brussels Departments
Red Cross is an independent volunteer organisation that advocates for vulnerable people at home and abroad; we are the world's largest humanitarian organisation. Worldwide, we operate with more than 180 national associations, 17 million active volunteers and hundreds of thousands of permanent staff.
One Red Cross Society operates in Belgium: the Belgian Red Cross. the Belgian Red Cross has a federal structure. This means that the services and activities of the communities are autonomous. Belgian Red Cross-Flanders ensures Red Cross operation in Flanders and - together with the Red Cross of the French-speaking community - also in Brussels.
As a result, a number of activities in the Brussels Capital Region are communal and bilingual, such as disaster relief. These activities are therefore organized by local municipal departments affiliated with Croix-Rouge Belgique. On this website you will find all information about the Dutch-speaking Brussels Capital Region department.
