First aid in the driver's license
What do you learn?
First aid training consists of an e-learning part (one and a half hours) and a practical part (three hours). You must have completed this training prior to your practical driving test. This training focuses on administering first aid in traffic, both in life-threatening and non-life-threatening situations.
You start with the e-learning module and at the end you choose a Dutch- or French-language practical training from the training calendar (duration: three hours). The Dutch-language trainings take place at the Brussels donor center of Belgian Red Cross-Flanders (Cellebroerstraat 16 B, 1000 Brussels).
For whom.
You can only register on the Belgian Red Cross 's online e-learning platform after passing the theoretical exam of the driving course at a Brussels exam center.
Price?
This first aid training is free of charge for anyone wishing to take the driving test in the Brussels Capital Region.

Healthcare professionals, (company) first aiders (upon presentation of the certification of Company First Aider) and ambulance providers (upon presentation of the certification of Emergency Provider-Ambulance) can apply for an exemption for this mandatory first aid training. This also applies to those who have obtained a certificate after completing at least 12 hours of first aid training (e.g. the certificate 'First aid basiscursus' from Belgian Red Cross-Flanders).
