The Regional Committees in the Province of Antwerp.
The province of Antwerp is divided into 5 regions: Antwerp, Mechelen, Zuiderkempen, Taxandria and Noorderkempen.
Each region has its Regional Committee, consisting of the regional president and the presidents of the local chapters within that region. The Regional Committee meets 4 times a year.
The Regional Committees speak and decide on regional matters and also departmental matters that require broad support.
The core functions of the Regional Committees are departmental guidance, preparation of general policy and supervision of its implementation.
A Regional Chairperson chairs the Regional Committee and represents the region on the County Council, the County Committee and on the Community Council.
The current region chairs are:
- Marc Verhelst (Mechelen)
- Erik Vanschoonbeek and Wilfried Peeters (Noorderkempen)
In addition to the department chairs, the regional team members of the disciplines also participate in the regional committees.
