Bio

Hilde is a senior lecturer at UGent. Her research currently focuses on three main themes, which in some studies are also studied in relation to each other.

Initially, there is a line of research focused on innovative methodologies and forms of work in education. The emphasis is on research into peer and student tutoring. Both impact research and process-oriented research into the underlying dynamics and interactions during tutoring are central.

A second line of research focuses on the study of the various components of self-regulated learning. Both the issues of mapping ("measuring") self-regulated learning in pupils and students, and its promotion in educational contexts are addressed in this line of research. These first two lines of research focus on compulsory education (with primary education in particular) and higher education as research contexts.

Finally, the third line of research focuses on language didactics and this specifically in primary education. Within this line, themes such as emerging literacy, reading comprehension, reading motivation, writing education, ... are addressed.
