Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have prior knowledge to start the teacher training?

No, you don't necessarily need prior knowledge. Of course, some experience or knowledge can make the pathway smoother. However, it is a requirement that you successfully complete the basic training courses before you start the teacher training program itself. What is at least as important as knowledge is motivation: you must feel the importance of first aid and have a desire to share your knowledge.

We guide you step by step, regardless of your background. Our current tutors come from very diverse industries and professions. Anyone with the right motivation can become a valuable teacher.

How often will I have to teach?

This is largely up to you. We are already very happy if you teach one themed class a month, for example, at times that are feasible for you. Some teach more often, others less. Everything is negotiable.

So where am I going to have to teach these classes?

The classes you later teach yourself will be scheduled flexibly and basically in your community. We take into account your availability. Many sessions take place in the evening or on weekends. This makes it feasible even if you work full-time.

How long does it take to become a teacher?

The track depends on your entry level:

  • Have you already taken the basic training courses? Then you can become a CPR and defibrillation instructor in about 8 to 10 weeks.
  • Are you starting from scratch? Then the trajectory will take a total of about 20 weeks.

For example, we organize the "teacher training courses in CPR and defibrillation" in Brussels at least three times a year, so you can get in at different times of the year.

Are there any exemptions?

Yes. Do you have a medical or educational background? Then certain course units may be exempted. Each case is considered individually. This is how we make the course as efficient and relevant to you as possible.

Do I have to pay for this training?

No. The training is completely free. Of course, we hope you'll commit to volunteering afterward, but you don't have to pay anything to attend the course.

Will I be paid for this?
